Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Splitting rules into extension categories potentially limits applying the maximum number of rules. With the current design "Custom" rules can not exceed 150k because they are locked into their category.
Describe the solution you'd like
Do not compile rules into extension categories. Label the extensions in Safari as "wBlock 0", "wBlock 1", "wBlock n".
Depending how things work under-the-hood (I really don't know) this could also allow for further deduplication of rules. I did notice that adding Fanboy's Ultimate (FBU) list triggers the close-to-limit warning. FBU contains EasyList and several others that already exist in wBlock. If FBU rules were deduplicated from other categories I would not expect this warning. This may be a different issue and I could be conflating things.
Describe alternatives you've considered
- Use additional adblocker apps that allow custom lists
Additional context
- Wipr's set of extensions/blocklists work like this [0]
- This is not currently an issue for me
- Of course, rules could still be grouped in categories in the UI
Finally, thank you for your work on this!
