It shouldn't be the case, I think this is more a Windows settings, there is no reason for GDevelop to keeps running in background.

There is no change in GDevelop that could explain your version of GDevelop is running in background.
This is not a feature or a bug living in the app, this is a feature of your OS Windows 11.

Please give a try to this:

GDevelop does not support managing its background app permission.

It just happened again, I was just doing some tween-related stuff and I ran a few previews before I closed GDevelop.
The project I was working on is saved in multiple files.

It happened to me on an old PC. It was very noticeable as the PC was lagging in the editor.
On computers we used to work, as they have many core, we probably don't notice the issue.
I don't know how to reproduce it on purpose though.

@Bouh
This also happens for me. But it doesn't happen regularly and most of the times I don't notice it till I open task manager. I think this is because sometimes for some electron programs multiple background programs are opened and Gdevelop doesn't close all of it. This is also a problem in a game I exported using Node JS. Sounds like an electron problem
