Description
i apologize that this is lengthy and somewhat disjointed, its difficult for me to organize thoughts for others
the compression card's name is confusing compared to its actual functionality. where a compression drawer from <storage drawer mod here> tries to compress up to higher and higher denominations to save space, the drive is already infinite and doesnt need to do that to begin with.
it could be named something along the lines of the "Teller/Banker upgrade". this i think would better seat the usage of the card in the users mind (the documentation could even reflect this, using emeralds as "coins" and emerald blocs as "dollars").
the decompression module's name has the same issue. playing into the monetary metaphor (and establishing the verbal link between it and the compression card), "Change-Maker module" could be a name.
this however doesnt hint to it being a passive module and suggest that it is the one doing the conversions, rather than it just providing the patterns to do so. using "provider" in the name (IE "Exchange pattern provider") could be confusing as well though, as it might suggest it acts like a pattern provider and again, isnt passive. i think this part has further issues that make it confusing but thats for a different issue as its more about how it looks than how its named
the bulk storage drive's name is.. fffine. i cant place why but something about it bugs me though, it doesnt feel right. out of everything though this is the lowest on the list and could just be a me thing
playing into the idea of things coming from the sky that AE2 has, and the dense-ness MEGA has, a new name for it could be the "Neutronic Storage Cel" (based on neutron stars, the densest things in the universe only surpassed by black holes)
if i were able to suggest a silly name id go with "1nf1n1ty" or "Mono-Infinite" Storage Cel
and the "cutoff" setting is (at least to me) very confusingly named. as i understand it, this is the primary denomination that will be reported to the ME system, with others only appearing if they cant fit into that denomination. the name "cutoff" however implies this is the maximum denomination the cel will contain/report (IE a cutoff of iron ingots will only report ingots and nuggets, but not blocks). this seems to be the behavior until you either insert an iron block into the network (and it gets converted to ingots/nuggets), or add a decompression module to the network where iron blocks will be reported as craftable (and extractable using the mousewheel)
a better name for it could be something like "default denomination". i think using "default" as the adjective makes it clear that its still being stored as the smallest denomination on the inside, but from the outside this is the one that will be shown to the system (unless they cant wholly fit into it). unless of course, this isnt the behavior of the cutoff setting in which case thats a new issue of its own dedicated to the UX of it
i understand if these naming ideas sound objectionable though, they arent hard commandments just starting points. the only thing im sure about is the idea of giving the compression-decompression items a banking/money theme to their names as it better reflects their behavior than compression does
