Filament gears offset

I'm looking in the sherpa micro CAD and I'm looking into the alignment of the filament gears and it's looking like in the picture. To me this looks lke the gears are going to bite into the filament too much. If you open it up more then the hole the filament passes through will be offset. The blue circle is 1.75mm in diameter. Is this right? How much do the gears bite into the filament? I'm thinking this should be adjusted a bit. I was thinking the hole tolerances maybe will make it more offset to the left but the holes are holding bearings and those are press fit.

It's possible this has been extensively tested and concluded that this is the best position for it but it seems a bit harsh to expect the filament to be mangled 0.4mm on each side. The VZ hextrudort seems to have about 1.1mm between the teeth vs 0.9mm for the sherpa. This is likely a non issue just raising the question to be thorough.
