How to use mic capture

I would like to know the volume level coming from the microphone, is it possible to find out somehow ?

Starting from the source, Set the mic preamp to +4 db for about 30cm distance from the source. (you may adjust the level according to how loud is the source and far from the mic is it). After that go to the channel level inside the DAW and set it to  -12db. After recording you can increase the level with a compressor or any other similar plugin, to achieve the desired mix. In Unreal we can use the envelope follower from the audio capture component to get a number for volume, or can monitor the submix it's going through(or master submix). Look in the level AudioVizBasicVolSubmix for that!
Best is to do as saxelectro says - get a proper setup going outside Unreal, and set it up so the volume is known and pre-processed.

Thanks! To get best audio results working in Unreal it depends on what you exactly doing. My opinion is that the only reason to use real-time audio capturing is for non game projects like virtual productions or audiovisual livestreaming like i do. For that reason it's better to use a DAW ouside unreal to prepare the signal before getting inside Unreal or to drive it straight for third party livestream software.
