The Who - What - Why of it all
As the EngineDev
I want to keep in touch with the community
So that we can decide on the appropriate licence for the AterraEngine
Additional Context
Currently, as of writing of this issue, the AterraEngine is licenced under the GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3
Due to the restrictive nature of this license, it is my understanding that the engine cannot be used in proprietary software. As a result, developers who wish to keep their game development closed source may face limitations.
This licensing choice might not be ideal for the long-term adoption of the engine, as it could discourage potential users. Exploring an alternative license, such as the Lesser General Public License (LGPL), might be a better option to balance openness and broader usability.
Addendum: Anna Sas is not a legal expert.
