Talk Description

Speech services play a crucial role in making applications more user-friendly, more accessible and intuitive. Despite these benefits, it is surprising that the Web Speech API remains remarkably underutilized. As a built-in browser technology, it offers a straightforward way to integrate speech recognition and speech synthesis into web applications without requiring complex and costly third-party services.

There is a drawback. Its implementation varies significantly across different browsers, leading to inconsistent user experiences. In this talk, we will explore the Web Speech API, discussing its design and how it is supported across different platforms. Additionally, we will examine alternatives and how they compare.
