[T450] Disk Utility cannot erase drive when installing Big Sur

I recently tried to install Big Sur with this EFI but failed as the drive refused to erase as APFS with GUID partition scheme with the error being "Couldn't read partition map -69876"

I did try to wipe the whole drive using GParted but that wouldn't work but mysteriously the only thing that worked was using another EFI made for t450. Maybe something is wrong with config.plist or missing something in the EFI? I have now installed Big Sur using that other EFI so I cannot test further.
