Nav | Discord Invite Link Can Report Invalid for Reasons

The Join Discord links on this page (staring with G7CST) and on the Home page, are all invalid. They may have been created with the default 7 day expiry?

Thank you for reporting @SCuffy, so strange. We had a similar issue recently but all are set to not expire:

Will investigate a bit. In the mean time you could try this one, we'd love to have anybody who gives feedback to definitely be part of the community.

[cid:84a4ca1d-0bf2-4f0e-90a3-2fcdf84c65d0] The plot thickens! This other invite link also threw up an error (above) so I tried it in a Private browser session and it worked! Went back to my regular browser session, hit Continue to Discord, then clicked Log out - it had cached my existing Discord login. Tried the link again and it worked. And I can choose to Log in with my existing account. So the error has something to do with when an existing Discord user tries that invite link .. it's like it's refusing me on permissions when it hasn't granted me the permissions yet lol. At least you now have a workaround if the question comes up again: log out of Discord in your browser or use an inPrivate window. See you on the inside! -SCuffy

I put the hold label on this one because I'm not sure what I can do to address it just yet.

As noted, this seems to be a Discord issue and not specific to our server, the invite link, or website. At the end of the day, doesn't matter where the problem is if somebody tries but has a bad experience so I'm not closing the issue because hopefully there is a solution we could consider.

For example, instead of going website --> discord, we could go website --> warning --> auto-open discord. That way if the link doesn't work, we can help guide somebody on what to do about it.

From searching around, this can be things like:

• somebody joined some other server and that server had an invalid link, it can show up as an invalid invite when trying to join ours
• somebody joined 100 servers and hit their account limit, it can show up as an invalid invite when trying to join ours
