uniget wants to repair itself. i don't like this message and it reappears after closing. this info is a bug, unigetUI works mostly much better, if i don't repair it.

while i was writing this bug ticket, i tried to close it several times and it seems that unigetUI won't become quiet.

asking repair unigetUI should be an option which should be easily to disable. it's really useless!

I had the same problem. You need to close UniGetUI from the taskbar, then open PowerShell and run the command winget list, and press "Y" when prompted. After that, start UniGetUI as an administrator and wait for it to update the packages. Then close the program and run it again as a regular user. It should work now.

i still don't like the "repair unigetUI" info. however i did solve the problem, there was also an update for edge.

opening unigetUI with admin right or admin privilege is mandatory! otherwise it won't work.

Yes, I am not blind or dumb. for me in most cases starting something as admin isn't necessary and unigetUI always warns the user (i forgot to take a screenshot of unigetUI). but this time, starting unigetUI as admin in the last step is mandatory.

but this also means that without your help i still wouldn't get new updates (probably) and only noticing it weeks after this day. so thank you.

ms edge .72 update from .60 is missing (however unigetUI and winget always failed installing updates for ms edge. i am living with it, always opening MS Edge => 3 dots => Help and feedback => About Microsoft Edge, but this is a total different story and absolutely not urgent)

I can reproduce the same exception originally reported in this issue when using a test winget source that I deliberately put offline. Do you have any third-party winget servers configured in your sources?

Here's my "winget source list" with a REST source I added and then turned offline, and now it throws the same exceptions for me

i will soon paste cmd => winget source list (not before monday 20th april 2026, because office is closed) and one of my collegues who is there 24/7 is a mental retard won't help with screenshots.

it's interesting that this problem only occured so far on a freshly installed windows 11 (had been set up begin of 2025). we have lenovo PCs with weirdly configured windows 10 OS and other PC's with windows 10 ("fresh install") also windows server 2022/2025. none of these PC's except the one with windows 11 has the problem mentioned in this bug ticket.
