I raise the question because AGENTS.md used to be a shared contract between agentic coding tools, making it clear that openspec was used in the project. Now we can still write one by hand, but imagine an open source project using openspec, where many contributors are using different tools, the workflow becomes implicit.
I would like to know more about the rationale here ? Is it to reduce context size or are there any other reasons ?
