The OpenRGB patch thats available in every kernel version has been deprecated for a while with upstream linux mostly supporting the functionality most people relied upon

For the devices that aren't supported upstream an external kernel module was created that limits itself to that specific subset of devices

I happen to have some hardware still depending on this, but yeah... I guess that's fine getting rid of it on newer releases.
