Tesco App - Crashes after a few seconds of opening.

Hi,

Apologies in advance for any duplication or any stupidity stemming from me as a newbie user. Possibly the same issues as #2286 but here goes...

Owner Profile used only to install apps.
Apps are 'disabled' in the Owner Profile and then apps are 'pushed' using the 'install available apps' to my 'Apps-and-Services' Profile.

Owner Profile has:
GOS App Store
Accrescent
Obtainium
GPS
GP services
AppVerifier

Orbot (always running)

Apps-and-Services Profile has:
All Proton Apps - Majority direct from Proton using Obtainium/AppVerifier, only Lumo, Wallet and Authenticator via the GPS.
NewPipe

Apps from GPS are:
giffgaff (all works fine)
firstdirect banking (all works fine)

**Tesco Problem App: Crashes a few seconds after opening.

I have followed the guidance from akc3n on the discussion forum:

1. Enabled native code debugging = App crashes a few seconds after opening.
2. Enable the per-app exploit protection compatibility mode = App crashes a few seconds after opening.
3. Temporarily disable secure app spawning. = App crashes a few seconds after opening.

Device: Pixel 8 Pro
Android 16
GOS: 2026052400

Tesco App: v26.7.2

Permissions: Location, Network, Notifications, Sensors

To disable secure app spawning, you need to turn off exploit protection compatibility mode. Disabling hardened_malloc forces secure spawning since the Zygote has hardened_malloc and other hardening enabled.

Thank you @thestinger now i have done that, the app opens no problems - Am i best/more secure to revert the settings back when not using the Tesco App, or am i risking too many things leaving them off? (Sorry still learning 😵‍💫)

We don't recommend disabling secure spawning. We plan on coming up with a workaround for this issue caused by apps doing invasive checks for a non-stock OS.

I'm also having this issue. Enabling/disabling exploit protection compatibility mode doesn't help, nor does disabling hardened memory allocator. This happens regardless of whether the app is installed through Aurora Store or Play Store.

Device is Pixel 6 running latest stable security preview release.
