With work progressing on the rework of the default applications I want to propose a layout for the contacts app.
The AOSP app allows contacts to be labeled and grouped. However that requires navigation between groups:
I propose this to be handled like tags that can be applied to a contact and filtered by on the main screen. This way no navigation would be required. The favorite feature could be handled the exact same way. The AOSP app just duplicates contact entries and pins them to the top here:
