Then i tried again to enter the openwrt initramfs and backup the firmware and i found the backup was 0bit (or empty)
is that really the problem?

It could be helpful if you could provide logs from TFTP session and the Serial output, otherwise it's hard to say what went wrong (that isn't already documented)

Just to confirm - you did covert the firmware according to "Prepare the OEM sysupgrade", right?

Also, make sure you are downloading the firmware for the correct hardware version.

Also, the backup feature from OpenWrt may not work using this process - neither the backup from OEM firmware (maybe related to empty version issue mentioned in the doc)

Yes, i have successfully got to the openwrt UI, and i have converted the firmware according to "Prepare OEM sysupgrade"

The problem is that when the OEM firmware flashing (sysupdate) process is complete and I open 192.168.1.1 in the browser, it returns to the beginning again.

The original firmware booted - that's great.
But it doesn't work - that's bad.
Restart the router with the UART console connected, maybe there will be more information about what's wrong.
Feel free to dump the console output here.

Once you upload the sysupgrade.bin you should be able to power-cycle the router without losing the uploaded firmware (unplug from power and connect once again).

Once unplugged, you should restart the UART terminal and plug the power. You should get the complete boot log that way, hopefully with some information that should help with pinpointing the issue.

Interesting - this would mean either:

• the sysupgrade is not being written to flash at all
• the firmware is written, but it still doesn't work

Either way, collecting the serial output from when you start uploading sysupgrade up to soft-reset could include some hints.

My router hardware version is 1.20 but the sysupdate.bin I created uses V1 firmware.
Yesterday, I searched for firmware version V1.20 on Mercusys websites in various countries and couldn't find it.
So I thought it would work on version 1.20

And finally I contacted customer service, and they responded very well.
Today, firmware v1.20 has been uploaded to the official website.
