These are created in /isis/git on control-svcs.isis.cclrc.ac.uk see

http://control-svcs.isis.cclrc.ac.uk/git/

make sure you add

[http]
    receivepack = true

to the config file of the repository or pushes will not work

Cloning is via something like

git clone http://control-svcs.isis.cclrc.ac.uk/gitroot/instconfigs/common.git
