example uses local import but how to use it when i got it from gradle?

I tried pasting the example code but it doesnt work because com.jamal cant be resolved. and Android Studio cant find "PrefsScreen" by itself

I guess with the information that you are providing that in the settings.gradle.kts jitpack.io is not registered as repository for dependencies

pluginManagement {
    repositories {
        [...]
        maven("https://jitpack.io")
    }
}
dependencyResolutionManagement {
    repositoriesMode.set(RepositoriesMode.FAIL_ON_PROJECT_REPOS)
    repositories {
        [...]
        maven("https://jitpack.io")
