I had it that way initially, but it was a separate screen. Let me see if I can make it "see" the in-memory ones that haven't been saved yet. If that works it might be ok. The cleanest is to create machines and users, then go to another page to assign them.
OK; I had to redo it for two reasons. Not only was it clunky, there was a real problem that blocked you from assigning at the same time anyway. New users aren't made into technicians until they're saved, and you can't assign people to machines who aren't technicians. So I removed the assignment from the main edit screen, and added logic to detect whether any machines or users have been changed. If you just edit the address or phone or something, it updates and goes to the show view. If you've added or removed users, though it takes you to an assignment screen.
Should make it so user can be added with a machine attached, or change the UI so it progresses through naturally
