Spotted this blog by AlCalzone (Z-Wave JS lead developer Dominic Griesel who is now working at Nabu Casa on behalf of the Open Home Foundation) where he is experimenting with custom bootloader for Silicon Labs based Z-Wave SoC:
Wondering if something similar could be done for Silabs EFR32MG21, EFR32MG24 or EFR32MG26 SoCs to allow for example having both a EmberZNet Zigbee Coordinaor application firmware and a Zigbee Router (or a Thread Repeater) firmware with OTA support for remote OTAU updates flashed the same same adapter?
I can think of one use case is to be able to have two adapters for redundancy in a kind of fail-over par where one is a Zigbee Coordinator and the other one is a Zigbee Router but only until the Zigbee Coordinator fails, as then you can restore backup to the adapter that was previoudly acting as a Zigbee Router, all without having to reflash firmware the adapter as they would already include both firmware..
