Not running on Arch Linux

There are multiple reports about the OpenTaiko Hub not running on Arch Linux systems, there might be additional configuration to do on the tauri configuration files in order to resolve this issue

I'm having the same issue here, looking around it seems to be related to libwebkit2gtk

After some tinkering I managed to build and run the AppImage on arch

I accomplished this by setting NO_STRIP=true before building

NO_STRIP=true npm run tauri build

and setting bundleMediaFramework to true on tauri.conf.json

I still have two problems two

1. If I try to download OpenTaiko it shows

Failed to download OpenTaiko: forbidden path: /tmp/.mount_OpenTaCWSB6P/usr/lib/OpenTaiko-Hub/tmp

2. When I start the AppImage it spams the console with a bunch of

(WebKitWebProcess:4844): GStreamer-WARNING **: 19:57:03.667: External plugin loader failed. This most likely means that the plugin loader helper binary was not found or could not be run. You might need to set the GST_PLUGIN_SCANNER environment variable if your setup is unusual. This should normally not be required though.

Edit: I just realized that running two instances of the AppImage at the same time makes my computer crash lol

Got it running using the generic tauri AUR guide. So I made my own package of it at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opentaikohub-bin. But I am unable to get it download any opentaiko version. But this is apparently due to path errors which have not been fixed yet Here.

I was able to get the app running and even download and extract OpenTaiko on arch, but when installing it gives me the error

Failed to download OpenTaiko: invalid args 'path' for command 'write_text_file' : command write_text_file expected a value for key path but the IPC call used a bytes payload

But For those interested here is how I compiled and and was able to run the app:
1.) clone the main repo
2.) navigate to the root of the repo and run npm install
3.) still in the root run npm run build
4.) followed by npm audit fix
5.) then navigate to the "src-tauri" directory and run cargo build --release
6.) the run npm run tauri build
7.) after that you should be able to go to "src-tauri/target/release" and there you should find OpenTaiko-Hub, run it

Try cargo update -p tauri-plugin-fs before the cargo build.

@IepIweidieng That works it was able to download and install OpenTaiko. But the install would seem to be incomplete. the majority of the linux release is missing. The solution i was able to find was to download it separately and place it in the ./OpenTaiko dir. At this point I'm now I just need the linux build of OpenTaiko to work on arch.

It should work on 0.1.5 now, for those having issues on Linux can you give it an extra try and see if it works properly now?
Tested with the AppImage version on Ubuntu and downloaded OpenTaiko, Songs, Skins and Characters successfuly on latest.

Downloading the skins and stuff work. First is a tiny issue with the opentaiko binary not being executable by default but that can be changed easily, second bigger issue is that when trying to launch it is producing a new wayalnd window but nothing is happening on it. I'll check x11 to see if it is a wayland issue.

It seems to be a wayland issue as it is running on x11. As shown by this:
