If a rank question allows an "n/a" column, and the only responses for any one choice is "n/a", then the totals section of the summary report for that question, does not include the choice. If at least one answer for that choice is not "n/a", then the totals show up.

Looks like this problem has existed since at least 3.2. Given that, and the fact it is an edge case, this will be dealt with when the rank display code is refactored.
