Setup the index config based on document. Qdrant+gemini

💥 Outcome Summary

I got this error while indexing codebase: "Error - Invalid embedder configuration. Please review your settings."
Kind of frustrating, I did search on the log and not more error message, below is my setting, didn't I do something wrong? Is there anyway to checkout more details?

Opened PR #7745 with my attempt at addressing this issue. The implementation adds detailed error messages for Code Index configuration issues, including:

• Specific guidance for authentication errors (with links to API key documentation)
• Clear messages for connection issues (host not found, connection refused, timeout)
• Model validation errors that list supported models
• HTTP status codes included in error messages for better debugging

The PR has some CI failures that need attention (translation checks and unit tests), but the core functionality for improved error messages is in place. Feedback welcome!

Thanks for the quick update, after tried the branch, I got more info:
"Error starting indexing: Invalid embedder configuration. Please review your settings. (HTTP 400)"

turns out to be a network problem, but not sure which uri returns 400. Because I need VPN to visit google, so I should setup a proxy for this? I have tried to set proxy on vscode settings but no luck.

Hey @springrider, the 400 means bad request. It could come from Qdrant as well. Can you double-check and re-enter all your settings?
