Occasionally I take a screenshot where the resolution of the crop matters and it would be nice to keep all the editing in one place.

Yes. we have issue #386 for this and there's a PR #357 that adds a GUI element that shows resolution of picture or crop selection (if any). It's pending some changes before we can merge it.
