Custom Markers - Ability to display a different custom icon for each query result (enhancement) #24
Comments
Whoever implements this - there will be a Schnitzel and Beer waiting for you if you visit franconia. |
I think you can already do this with compound queries: http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_Maps_examples/Compound_queries |
I tried it - but if i understood compound queries correctly, you need to specify an icon for each part of the cc. If every single query result had its own (unique) marker, you would have to use one query for each result. Probably I did not fully understand cc though... |
Oh right I see - a per subject thing. That's definitely possible (to add), such stuff has been done in some SRF result formats already. Would be great if someone implemented this! |
Plus there is Schnitzel (or Schäuferla) and beer waiting! |
It might be worth remarking here that the majority of SMW developers are actually vegetarians ;-) |
Oh, Markus, I wasn't aware of this. Tough challenge for the franconian cuisine. One could go with Käsespätzle and more beer. |

In order to being able to distinguish each query result displayed on a map it would be great if each one was shown with the according icon.
I.e. one would search for fast food restaurants in a town, the location of McD would be displayed with its signature golden M, BK with its logo and so on.
One possibility to implement this would be to add a new attribute like "has custom_marker=mcd.png" to the corresponding page and add this ?has custom_marker to the ask-query.
