Hi all !
I've been thinking about Highlights panel integration since it arrived in the app a few versions ago. I was not really convinced by the display, at least considering my own use case. I do use a lot of accentuations in my documents, sometimes for a single word. Thus, the displayed list can be very long and unsorted, which do not make me want to read it ever again. How to make it more useful ? The main issue is that the list is not structured in any way. So I thought : how to better structure it ? And it blew my mind : the best structuration could be the Table of Content.
I think it could be great to have an option to merge TOC & Highlight panel together, allowing to structure highlights with the titles used in the document. Then, the hightlights could benefit from being contextualized, and not just a list of formatted texts. Indeed, it would help to understand them and to exploit them later when having a glance at the note. "Oh ok, here are the main sections of the note, and inside these sections, here are the highlighted passages..."
