Parakeet Model will not install

Description

When I try to install Parakeet, nothing happens and I don't see an error message and it continues to display not installed yet. No errors reported

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install TW
2. Open Wizard
3. Hit install button

I expected parakeet to install like it has in the past

Thanks for reporting this. You were right: this was on our side.

I fixed the sherpa-onnx native runtime packaging in the app repo, but I simply forgot to republish the marketplace Sherpa/Parakeet plugin artifact afterward. The registry was still pointing new installs at com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx v1.0.2, which did not include the updated sherpaort.dll runtime alias.

I have now published com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx v1.0.3 and updated plugins.json. The new ZIP includes the required Windows runtime files. Please restart TypeWhisper or reopen the wizard so it refreshes the plugin registry, then try installing Parakeet again.

Also, please do not use third-party patch ZIPs attached in issue comments. The official fix is the marketplace plugin release above.

manual replacement:

1. quit TW
2. open Windows Explorer to: C:\Users\...USER...\AppData\Local\TypeWhisper\Plugins
3. copy away folder com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx as backup
4. download com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx-1.0.3.zip from https://github.com/TypeWhisper/typewhisper-win/releases/tag/plugin-sherpa-onnx-v1.0.3
5. rename it to com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx
6. move/copy it into C:\Users\...USER...\AppData\Local\TypeWhisper\Plugins
7. restart TW

Thanks, that screenshot helps. The error is still coming from the stale installed Sherpa plugin dependency (sherpa-onnx, Version=1.12.23.0). The registry is now on com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx v1.0.3, but the wizard recommendation card does not make the existing-plugin update path clear enough yet.

Please do not rename the ZIP file to the plugin folder. The ZIP must be extracted.

Safest path:

1. Fully quit TypeWhisper from the tray icon: right-click the tray icon -> Exit. Closing the window with X keeps TypeWhisper running in the tray.
2. Open TypeWhisper again, go to Settings -> Integrations, and check whether Lokale Modelle (sherpa-onnx) shows an Update button. If yes, click Update, then restart TypeWhisper.
3. If the update button is not available or the old plugin stays broken, do a manual clean install:
   • Quit TypeWhisper from the tray icon again.
   • Delete this folder if it exists: %LOCALAPPDATA%\TypeWhisper\Plugins\com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx
   • Also delete this pending update folder if it exists: %LOCALAPPDATA%\TypeWhisper\Plugins\.pending-updates\com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx
   • Download com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx-1.0.3.zip from https://github.com/TypeWhisper/typewhisper-win/releases/tag/plugin-sherpa-onnx-v1.0.3
   • Extract the ZIP contents into %LOCALAPPDATA%\TypeWhisper\Plugins\com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx
   • After extracting, %LOCALAPPDATA%\TypeWhisper\Plugins\com.typewhisper.sherpa-onnx\manifest.json should exist directly in that folder.
   • Start TypeWhisper again.

The wizard staying open after closing the main TypeWhisper window is a separate window-lifetime bug. I will track that separately from the Parakeet plugin packaging issue.

It seems to be the very same procedure as I wrote.

Was successful and version 1.0.3 is shown:

the app is up and running again - I was not aware, how much I already depend on.
