Binja Will Not Start

Bug Description:
Binja will not run from dock icon click nor command line.

Steps To Reproduce:
Please provide all steps required to reproduce the behavior:

1. Click icon
2. Run by binaryninja -de
3. Observe three log lines then nothing.

Uninstall, reboot, reinstall from an installer in the portal clears whatever that was.

Thanks to @bdash for this workaround:

I hit this same hang again today. Double-checked and there was 100% no BN processes running. I was able to resolve it without rebooting this time by manually nuking the SysV semaphores from the command line via ipcs -s | grep 0x51 | cut -f2 -d" " | xargs -n 1 ipcrm -s

Please let me know if that doesn't work. In any case, rebooting should always resolve the situation.

Most importantly, I need a repro.

I know it's a valid issue, I know what the broken state looks like and where in the code the hang occurs, but I have been unable to force the broken state to occur.

Barring that, I will probably have to replace the single instance mechanism, because of a known underlying issue in Qt's QSharedMemory and QSystemSemaphore implementation on macOS.

If you're looking into alternative approaches, Chromium uses a combination of symlinks and unix domain sockets for detecting an already-running instance and activating it (and forwarding it any "open URL" Apple Events on macOS).
