Enhance chat support

We should add some nice features for chat, such as: 
- Image support
- Emoticon support
- Link support (i.e. turn (https?|ftp|irc|itpc|etc):// links into actual links. maybe implement for all schemes on [this](http://www.iana.org/assignments/uri-schemes/uri-schemes.xhtml) list. 
- Perhaps provide link support via markdown formatted links.
