🚀 Launching APoP v0.1 — robots.txt for the agentic web
Hey everyone 👋
We’re excited to announce APoP (Agent Policy Protocol) — an open standard for how websites can define and enforce access policies for AI agents.
Think of it as robots.txt for the agentic web — but with consent, verification, and transparency built in.
🌐 Why APoP?
Over the past few weeks, friction between AI agents and websites has been growing — most notably when Perplexity AI’s CEO called out Amazon for blocking their Comet Assistant.
That moment made something clear:
the agentic web needs a neutral, open way for websites and AI agents to cooperate responsibly — not fight over access.
🧱 What’s Inside
⚙️ How It Works
/agent-policy.json(like robots.txt).Agent-*headers declaring their identity and intent.Agent-Policyheaders and enforce verification or rate limits.🚀 Get Involved
This is v0.1 Draft — feedback, RFCs, and pull requests are welcome.
We’re especially looking for input from:
If you care about building a balanced, consent-driven agentic web, this is your chance to shape it early.
🧭 Mission
APoP exists to make the agentic web open, transparent, and respectful —
so agents and websites can evolve together, not against each other.
Let’s define the rules of the agentic web — together.
