Failed to Launch - Internal error: "server shut down unexpectedly"

Due to the recent increase in supply chain attacks, I have added this line to my ~/.npmrc file:

min-release-age=7

Since then, every time I try to start a new Claude Agent conversation in Zed, I get this error:

When I remove the min-release-age security setting, the issue disappears and I can start new Claude Agent conversations again.

However, I do not want to lower my security settings just to use Zed Agents.

We will have to address this at the registry level, as we currently prioritize loading the latest known-working version

It’s still useful for quick minor edits, although I’ve moved most of my agentic coding to CC CLI or Codex. I’m still eagerly scanning the weekly Zed release notes, though, to see whether the better agentic review experience comes back.

The "Failed to Launch" error keeps coming back, even though I've temporarily disabled the security setting to let Zed install its ACP stuff. After a day or so, or after a Zed restart, its not possible to start a new Claude Agent conversation again (same error again). Basically, I'm only able to start Claude Agents if I constantly disable this system-wide security setting.
