Holding delete doesn't stop immediately when releasing

Very tiny UX thing, but it always leads to me deleting more than I want to

backspace inputs are queued up as requests to the server, which entails a bit of latency. it's likely that backspace requests are piling up at a faster rate than the server can reflect this change. not sure if there's an easy fix to this!
