Indentation/groubping for Subtasks

Hi,

I want to suggest that Subtasks should be rendered as such in all list views and maybe can be hidden from other views. As I usually just want to see the overall progress of tasks.

That is how it looks now:

Perhaps someone has a better Idea, but I want to quickly see which tasks are sub-tasks of what.
Ideally, the status of subtasks would also change the parent's tasks status. e.g. if all subtasks are done, the parent is set to done...

Thanks you for your suggestion.
You can achieve what you want by adjusting your view filters to show only tasks with an empty project property. Those would be what you consider "Tasks"

If you enable the option to show expandable subtasks in the plugin appearance settings, the subtasks will be displayed as you suggested.

I use a similar approach because subtasks are children of tasks, but tasks are children of projects, projects are children of larger projects, or areas, and goals.

I use tags as "type"
If I just want to see tasks at the root, I filter by "#tasks".

If I want to see "projects" at the root, then I filter by "#project" and the tasks are displayed as subtasks of their parent projects...

In some views I also like to see tasks, subtasks and projects at the root and I don't mind the duplication.

So your suggestion, if enforced by the plugin, would make it unusable to me.

The beauty of Tasknotes is that it makes no assumptions about how your workflow should be. It gives you the freedom to configure it to your needs.

Is there a way to change the properties shown for subtasks under their parent task? I have a Custome field assigne, which I cong make visible for sub tasks.

There's no way to show a different set of fields depending in whether the task has a parent or not.

If you want to have a cleaner look, a possible workaround is to change your assigned property "Display Name" to an emoji 👤.

It would be just an extra emoji in your parents if the parents have empty assignee values. And your subtasks would show and emoji + assignee values.

Please note that this only changes how "assignee" property name is displayed in the plugin. It doesn't require any change in the actual Obsidian o"assignee" property name.
