Development Mode

How should we handle Development mode?

I tried using the docs presented here, but my environment variabled in .env are not present in the env variable.

I think the problem is .env is not reading PUBLIC_URL env. Any workarounds?

Assuming you are using CRA. When running the react app with npm start, then the generated build/env.js is not being used (and hence not the command npx react-inject-env set). You have to use the usual .env or .env.development file for your variables, or pass them via CLI.

The PUBLIC_URL should work with react-inject-env v2.1.0. Please make sure that the dependency is up to date.
