Will hpke-rs drop support for RFC 9180 modes dropped from the final IETF standard?

hpke-rs currently supports all four of the modes specified in the CFRG "informational" RFC 9180: Base, PSK, Auth, and AuthPSK.

The HPKE working group is considering (hpkewg/hpke#1) dropping the Auth and AuthPSK modes from the IETF standards-track version of HPKE. If that should happen, will hpke-rs (a) drop these modes as well or (b) continue supporting the full set of RFC 9180 modes?

We don't intend to drop any modes at this point. Especially if there are users, I don't see a reason to drop them. The implementation diff is not big enough to remove code for these modes.

We’ve gotten some signals that the HPKE working group would be receptive to a draft specifying just the Auth and AuthPSK modes from RFC 9180, so that they remain standardized as an extension of the final standards-track RFC.

We (@freedomofpress) may be able to dedicate time to preparing and shepherding this draft. Would that be at all useful to Cryspen in preserving these modes in hpke-rs?

Yes, this would definitely be useful. There are certainly use cases we see for this.
