Description

Watch a movie, select a subtitle that's embedded in SRT format and a blue spinning circle appears and never goes away even after the subtitle starts playing. Workaround at the moment is to stop the movie and start it back up. This appears because jellyfin extracts first time movie subtitles and delivers it back,

Reproduction steps

1. Start movie
2. Select a SRT embedded subtitle that jellyfin server will extract (first time as after that it's cached)
3. Notice blue circle

Having the same issue thought it was just me and also 1.0.0 feels just like a major downgrade. Went from have an almost perfect experience to now almost needed to restart the app 5-10 times just to get something to load. Going back to 0.6.4 until problem is fixed.

Are you using ExoPlayer or MPV?

Is the video playing with the subtitles while a loading indicator is showing? Or is playback not going, but subtitles are showing?

Mainly MPV but was also trying exoplayer, Both were having the same issue. It plays both the video and subtitles it just keep the loading indicator on screen until you restart it.

Hello,
I have the same pb when switch audio track in series - start playing any episode, it is starting ok, then go to menu and switch audio track and see loading circle. Stop and start episode removes the loader, it plays with previously selected track.

#1505 has a partial fix for MPV

I'm not able to reproduce via ExoPlayer yet, but the subtitle extraction for me is almost instant. Are there any containers or formats that typically take longer to extract from?

Seeing this same issue with ASS subtitles. Very annoying! Was not present in 0.6.4
