It is a micro thing so putting it with growth is not ideal I think; you'd go straight to technology shocks in DSGE (at worse), or Griliches/Jorgenson/Hall-Mohnen-Mairesse returns to R&D literature (at best). Historically people thinking about innovation systems were the ones pushing for complexity ideas.
