Integrate run_continuously feature

Since the documentation recommends the use of third-party version of the code, is there any reason that the run_continuously feature has not been integrated into the official code?

It would be great not to have to run a frankenstein version of the module.

Just read the docs and came to look for this... I see it's been 9 months or so since this was brought up 🤔
