As stated by the designer fediaFedia on DeviantArt:

The original image isnt accurate, because it passes through a filter when it's used on DWM\Window.

Apparently until now everybody used the orb from aero.msstyles - but it isn't correct, because vista ads a a layer color overlay to most images so they look different on the interface.

This also applies to the current Windows Aqua Orb that Vista themes use.
