2025-09 release

Release happened today. The releasing steps for CDT and CDT-LSP have been completed, except for a review of CDT's tagging of PRs (e.g. adding noteworthy and milestones on closed PRs)

TODO (for @jonahgraham) add to N&N and/or API Changelog the recent and upcoming terminal changes. Inform people terminal has migrated to Eclipse Platform. Inform in the future that CDT may remove stuff and that consumers should point to Eclipse Platform for terminal dependencies instead of CDT. End users are not really affected by these changes as the upgrades will happen.

There is an important issue that affects some CDT LSP users in the LSP4E code. The fix has been made, but it did not make the 2025-09 release. Therefore affected users should install LSP4E snapshot build. The relevant PR is eclipse-lsp4e/lsp4e#1323

Terminal migration to Platform

Goal is to remove all terminal code from CDT (except serial connector and org.eclipse.remote connector and native part). Dependencies of TCF/PDT and Co-pilot need consideration, but need project involvement. Once Eclipse Platform in on Java 24 (FFM support) then org.eclipse.cdt.core.native can move to platform.

We discussed bus factor and @jld01 learning more of the ropes - thanks to @jld01 for doing #1297 and reviewing in detail #1190.

@ruspl-afed in maintaining Mylyn has asked for better visibility in when/if M and RC builds of CDT are published. Therefore we will resume doing a endgame issue per release.
