Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

we need a place to store source code for hat prototypes

Potential solutions

separate repo for each prototype?

  • we could use a different repo for each prototype (following on from QGIS prototype example)
  • if we do this route then we will need to create a repo for streamlit and interactive notebook prototypes (e.g. ecmwf-projects/streamlit-playground)

or all in the hat repo?

  • add a prototypes/ subdirectory from the root level of the repo
