The first example in the Introduction section seems to ignore the possibility of the opponent having pocket pairs.
On the river, the opponent also wins with pocket kings.
(I have not checked the code, so I don't know if the issue is only in the example, or if the code also ignores this possibility)

You may be referring to my notion of "killer cards" not including pocket pairs -- this is correct and is by design. In pied_poker, "Killer Cards" refer to one single card that your opponent could have, which would beat your current hand. It does not include all possible 2 card hands that they could have which would beat you.

In this case at the river, you are correct, the opponent would win if they had pocket kings. However, since there is no "single card" which would beat you, the killer cards are empty here.

I could definitely add functionality for computing all possible 2 card hands that would beat you, maybe as an optional parameter on the killer_cards() method. Let me know if that's something you would have interest in, and if so, I can extend the project and example to account for this.
