A small but specific suggestion on the "default map source" #401

Description

@hdlnii

Hello, as usual, thank you again for making such fantastically powerful software.

Something that I've noticed for a while, but came to me more prominently today, so I thought I'd leave a note:

The optimisation proposal

The CartoDB default map source entry could be adjusted to become an ** optional reset/recreate ** that requires an active user decision to call out, instead of as the currently compulsory, permanent, and undeletable pinned entry at top.

The rationale

This software is now powerful such that it calls for the costs and trust for investing in a thoroughly customised configuration, convention, and workflow: including a personally curated list of raster tiles URLs.

This goes in the same spirit and philosophy that MapView has been built and evolved upon, I think. Yet, A high degree of customisability certainly involves being able to choose what gets displayed and what does not. MapView is GREAT (seriously — the way all coexists and intergrows with the main system of text notes, becoming one system) at this, but for me, I have my list carefully made with a very specific labelling/naming convention, as such:

  1. TO-WW-WGS-OpenTopoMap
  2. ST-WW-WGS-OSM_Standard
  3. SA-WW-WGS-Google_Base
  4. CY-WW-WGS-CyclOSM
  5. ...

However, the CartoDB was not included in the list by me.

At this point of the argument, I think it's quite obvious (lol) what would become a little frustrating, to me, under these premises, is that every time I view the drop-down menu to select a map, there is currently NO option space for me to only see my curated list — the CartoDB is always at top with no naming/labelling convention to it. I tried to manually remove it from the data.json file under the array "map sources", but after I save it, the plugin recreates it automatically on reload, whilst also showing this prompt:

I hope I didn't break or reset (lose) anything, the config, etc. I'm not 100% sure.

I understand that the design intention initiallly probably involves making sure a fresh new user who doesn't have anything set up can always have at least one solid map source to work with as default, but it would be such a QoL improvement if that can be optional for users who have gone in quite deep already.

Cheers
