What's New
What is new in ver. 5.0 ?
The new version of ISOLA and ISOLA-GUI has major changes/additions that make the use of the software a lot easier and add extra features like uncertainty estimation and forward modeling.
A brief introduction to new features is following.
- A special GUI to help user with seismogram rotation is available in Utilities section.
- Import data includes now all the available data import options (SAC, SEISAN, GCF, PITSA).
- Restriction of three letter code for station name was removed. Station names can have three to five letters now.
- Forward simulation tool to perform synthetic seismogram calculation based on a given source position and mechanism
- Uncertainty estimation tool is provided based on Zahradnik and Custodio 2012.
- H-C method can be called from ISOLA-GUI main menu.
- A new plot of a map including the solution and stations used is added.
- New plots to help with extended source simulation result presentation
- In Output folder PNG versions of plots created by the GUI are automatically created. Naming of these files is automatic based on event’s date-time.
- Various bugs have been corrected, and a few news were added….!!!please send us your feedback…
- plus many more small changes …..!
- Overall we consider this a major update and urge users to update.
GUI Purpose
The ISOLA GUI has been created using the Matlab GUIDE tool. Its purpose is to help the user of ISOLA-FORTRAN part with data preprocessing, Green function preparation, waveform inversion and display of the results. In addition to the main tools a few utilities are also present that help the user to inspect the quality of the data using filters, convert to displacement, etc. In utilities there are also two other options that could help: Backup files and Create Pole Zero file. The Backup files option saves in a user specified folder a number of files that are critical for running the inversion; in this way the user can keep track of various attempts during an experiment. Finally the import SAC and GCF (Guralp Compressed Format) options help converting SAC and GCF binary files in ISOLA ascii format (4 columns of ascii data per station, i.e.,Time, NS, EW and Z component).
