F3D is currently losing 10e/month because of git-lfs bandwidth cost. Lets discuss plans to improve the situation.

  1. Reducing cost

While the obvious answer, lets not focus on that for now because the initial plan was to generate enough sponsor based revenue to avoid that. In any case, we should still try to avoid using git-lfs when we can in the CI, but if the number of users keep growing, the git-lfs cost will keep growing as well.

  1. More way to sponsor

On a reddit discussions, two solutions appears, one providing more way for potential sponsors to sponsor us, here here the one to consider:

  • Patreon
  • ko-fi
  • liberapay

We should consider adding multiple paltform so people can decide to sponsor more easily

  1. Create a dedicated acount.

Currently sponsor money goes to my personnal account. While not perfect, this works for @Meakk and myself. However, in the future, we may need an actual dedicated for f3d-app. Lets investigate/discuss this. A dedicated structure is probably needed.

  1. Make donating more personnal

One of the main feedback from reddit was the user donate to people, not software.
While I'm not really keen to that (I personnaly do not need any donation), I understand the feeling.
Maybe we should communicate in a different way around sponsors.

  1. Find institutional sponsoring

EU and France may have program to sponsor opensource projects, lets look into that:

  1. Find commercial sponsoring

More and more company like to sponsor open source software, lets consider that as well

  1. Other links to consider:
