When used on the client side, the server requires it to be installed on itself. That's why I can't get rid of the red cross next to the server, although I can play on the server.

This is unfortunately a side-effect of the mod being optional on the server.
I can see if I can solve it for upcoming versions on my end, but I do recommend the mod "Better Compatibility Checker".
It solves this issue for many mods.
