Python using 99% CPU

I've noticed python will use 99% CPU while running this script and I think I've narrowed it down to the party queue being too large. For example if I queue up a playlist from spotify via the mopidy http frontend the Partify script will detect the playlist and update accordingly however it will continue to use 99% of the CPU. If I keep the queue under 20 songs the script seems to run fine and use relatively low CPU.

I've also noticed when this happens that the party queue will stop updating and the current played song will be out of date. Refreshing the Partify page will update it however.
