Mentioning/pinging yourself does not highlight in yellow

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to any text channel
2. Ping yourself, either directly by name or with a role

Expected behaviour

Direct pings and role pings, even if you do it to yourself, should highlight in yellow.

Actual behaviour

Pings you do to yourself don't get highlighted.

The reporter has noted that there's still no highlighting occurring, but that a small flicker now occurs, as if the app is trying to highlight but is being overwritten by other logic.
