Expand upon the beginner guide's shortened flight planning section: here

Would probably require an internal link on the page above to link to the advanced-guides section.

Proposed Topics:

  • Entering long flight plans
  • What to do when airway page is full of entries but still requires more AWY+WPTs
  • Full breakdown of Departure configuration and definitions
    • sid selection
    • vias
    • trans
  • Full breakdown of arrival configuration
  • Speed Constraints
  • Altitude Constraints (Disclaimer included that VNAV is not avail yet
  • Link to discontinuities page (when encountered during flight planning - no need to double explain)
  • other topics

The pages below are available on production but have no content (they are hidden from the index currently):

I'll be happy to start on this guide. Shall I add an advanced tutorial to Simbrief usage too?

I would hazard the simbrief portion is not 100% in relation to ops in the aircraft itself.

It might be its own separate guide but navigraph has their own detailed information on utilizing simbrief and at the moment I think we cover most things. Possibly just more detailed information on existing pages on things to pay attention to when using simbrief.

In my opinion, a successful flight starts with a good planning. (Not only route, but things like procedures to expect, reading NOTAMs and reading the briefing pack for the related airports). So it may not be related to the aircraft operation itself, but it is related to the operation of the flight.

And, for a realistic flight, I do disagree with Navigraph on certain points in their manual. I don't want people to make those mistakes.

The caveat is we describe simbrief usage -- we'd have to provide alternatives and guides to those as well // simbrief in large to utilize it's features requires a paid subscription to Navigraph so that AIRACs are not mismatched in the sim.

It'd be hard to base entire swaths of our guides on a paid product esp if alternatives are available.
