Question about possible contribution

Hi

I was wondering if any of the following code contribution would be welcomed in which case I would be happy to try to provide PRs for these:

• switch to pyproject.toml where possible (could replace setup.cfg, requirements.* and most of setup.py)
• switch from os.path to pathlib.Path
• switch to using ruff
• adding pre-commit for code style checks

There is also an open feature request for switching to bootstrap v5 and I might give that a try, but wanted to check in first if there are other people perhaps working on this. My knowledge of bootstrap is very minimal, so if someone else is already working on this, that probably would be better ;) I'm also more familiar with jinja than mako, so I wanted to ask if a PR with bootstrap v5 that is jinja only would be OK?

1. pyproject.toml — maybe, but without breaking any functionalities, and keeping setuptools as the build backend.
2. Switching to pathlib would probably be quite time-consuming and difficult, but you can try.
3. We do not need ruff.
4. We do not really need pre-commit either.
5. Support for bootstrap5 would probably be the most beneficial to us. We could take a working bootstrap5-jinja theme and build the mako theme out of it.

ok. thanks for the fast feedback. I'll try out a few things. For 5) there is already an issue, but for 1) and 2) there isn't. Would I need to create one or can I just push a pull request for those?
