GnoChange Brainstorm

An idea for a Gnoverse community dApp, porting web2 applications to Gno. Please feel free to provide feedback in the Gnoverse community repo, and if you're interested in helping build it, let's do it.

Description
GnoChange is a community building and activist application to signal and publicly support a cause or topic. The goal is that anyone can make a petition with certain requirements, or considerations, and share with the community to generate engagement and support. The community signs the petition, shares the petition and can communicate about it (via a Boards implementation).

The idea is in the future Gno-based petitions can be used in the real world, a decentralized version of Change.org. It allows people to self organize and coordinate on topics that are important to them and get signatures to indicate support and weight to the petition.

Ideas:

  • Geographical component: Local, Regional and Global petitions if there are topics you want to address in your area of the world.
  • Gno.land community petitions

Flow:

  • Use your namespace and address to create it
Select if you want it to be localized or online
  • Topic and the description of the petition, the call to action so to say
  • Share the petition with your community, create discussions and engagement with your cause or topic.

Implementation ideas:

  • Petition Package: For other people to implement in their application as a reusable template
  • GnoChange Home Realm, where you register and create your petition
  • GnoChange Realms: each petition has its own realm with a Board where people can discuss and sign the petition. The petition could result in the creation of a DAO of like minded people if you want to go further and have regular petitions OR the petition signers could automatically be added to a DAO OR it could start with a DAO that has a mission and wants to create a regular series of petitions related to their purpose.

Discussion points:

  • Philosophically, this is different from a governance vote, there is no threshold or quorum, just signatures. You set forth an amount of signatures you deem as your goal.
  • Could follow a similar implementation to the Guest Book
